I am having some issues of cart iPads at our school. These are shared iPads that several students log in and out of Google Docs or Slides or whatever. The issue IS VERY INTERMITTENT! When some student go to sign into their Google account after opening Docs, it will time out and never allow the student to sign in. We have tried Safari and Chrome, cleared browser data and all the other typical things. Sometimes it works like it should, sometimes it may take 40 seconds for they field where they enter their emails in and sometimes it times out. This happens all day on several hundred of the iPads we have regardless of how old or new it is.

Has anyone else experienced this and have a resolution or idea for us to try. (we use Mosyle MDM and Exterme IQ Network management)

Check your firewall. We had a similar issue where we were restricting access to some Google Apps but not others, and that caused intermittent login issues as well.

We use a Fortinet Firewall. Do you remember if it was policy, or a wildcard permission, application override or something else?

We were using an application block. The “accounts.google.com” that Google used/uses to sign people in apparently jumps to whatever Service answers first, regardless of the application the user is actually trying to sign into.

Therefore, sometimes the service worked, sometimes it was blocked.
