You can have as many as you want.

As many as make sense for your architecture.

You are dramatically out of scope for a question on a forum. You are literally asking us to teach you how to work in IT. You need to hire a consultant. It’s great that you want to learn this stuff and I’m not complaining that you have asked. But every single one of these items is way, way more than a forum can explain to you. Each one of these topics requires that you be trained as an IT professional. You need a basic background in networking just for starters.

AD, for example, as an advanced certification from Microsoft. You need tons, and tons of foundational knowledge before being able to address these questions.

I think that if you are looking to learn, you need to start with the A+ exam and get some foundation. Or try a local university with an IT program. If this is for a business, you need to bring in an outside consultant.

I can’t really recommend any resources because the questions that you are asking indicate that you don’t know what these things are and so the background knowledge is not there. What is your current computer experience? How is your TCP/IP knowledge? Do you have any experience in desktop support?

Scott. I appreciate your views, and yes my way of asking ques was not good, Ima CCNA holder i know every these terms ,their working, thier functionalties, but i was jus looking for suggestions because im looking to set up these… so i thougt i should take suggetsins out of these. Anyways i basically want to know about securities keeping in mind doing these things.

I would recommend this book Active Directory Resource Kit for Server 2008 Amazon.com But they make one for each version of Windows depending on that you have.

General Rule is to have at least 1 Domain Controller for Physical Each Site that you have, but it’s not necessary if the site has a really good Internet Connection and a very small user count. In your primary site it might be good to have two Domain Controllers to provide some redundancy if you have a problem. Remember if your Domain Controller is down your network is down.

Check these resource links:

It should give you good idea to start … depends how many users, devices, sites … what resources … plan accordingly

Ah I see. It’s still incredibly broad  But that is better.

Yes, two at a minimum. But everything is determined by your specific architecture and business requirements.
