Love the idea of a tablet and a netbook, but if instead of Windows 7, if they put Android on it instead! This would knock me off the fence, and order one.

Just a thought.

3 Spice ups

a decent battery would also be appropriate

Has to be better battery life than a smart phone, no???

I have a DUO w/ dock, they are okay but definitely not for everyone. I don’t think android would be all that great on this thing…unless it was a dual boot or if you could run it as a VM using Virtual Box or something.

The only reason I bought one is for school. It is great to take notes on, create power points, and since it is full Windows 7 I can run Microsoft Mathematics software on it for those fun Calc and Stats classes. However, I would NOT recommend buying it just to use as a Windows tablet, you won’t be happy. The DUO’s biggest problem relates to it’s biggest advantages IMO: it is heavy but it has 250GB of storage 2GB of RAM, a full keyboard and Win7. Also, if you are going to buy it you might as well get the dock for extended functionality.

Not really…about 3-4 hours of moderate usage.

Considering the foot print of windows7 compared to Andriod, there would be allot of performance gain, plus not to mention the battery management compared… Just thought Dell could be the first to bridge the gap properly, using a better OS.

Maybe…but lugging this thing around for use as an Android tablet would not be fun. I also have a GalaxyTab that is light weight, very responsive, and combined with DropBox has all the storage I would ever need on a tablet. I am not saying it wouldn’t be cool for Dell to do a dual boot with Android but removing Win7 completely from a DUO would decrease all the limited functionality and use cases it has. A Motorola Xoom with a keyboard case would be much more practical, IMHO.

But you would be lugging around a tablet / netbook…Actually leaning more towards the GalaxyTab as I could root it and put CyangenMod on it, which in IMO is the best MOD out there for Android!
