I am having trouble installing the Spiceworks Agent on remote machines. The Spiceworks Central Server is on my pc in the home office. The Spiceworks Server HTTPS port is configured as 9676. We have a VPN established between our two locations.

On a remote machine (connected via the VPN), I have tried using the local IP address of my Spiceworks Central Server (10.0.0.68), specifying the HTTPS port as 9673. When I test the connection, I receive the following error:

Connection failed: Unable to connect to the remote server

I thought maybe I should try going through the external IP address of our Windows Server 2008 (not the Spiceworks Central Server), but, of course I get the same error. I’m assuming that I need to configure port forwarding on that server, but I have no idea how to do that. I would prefer to just have the remote clients connect to the local IP address of my Spiceworks Central Server, but I thought I would look into this as an alternative.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Hi Keith,

Just to confirm - are you using 9676 when you configure the Agents? Above you mention 9673 (maybe a typo?).

If you open a browser on the remote machine can you hit your Spiceworks installation’s login page?
