Just wondering if anyone is intergrating Spiceworks with an Accounting Software. I work for an MSP Company and our parent company is a software company and they are willing to work on integrating Spiceworks with an Accounting Software in order to make our billing process and workflow easier and tie a customer database together between the two instead of having two seperate things. We are just wondering if anyone is doing anything like that now, or has tried, what accouting software you have used for that, or if you have any suggestions on an accounting software that would be a little more open to allowing database access (authenticated access of course). We are using Quickbooks right now an have found that it is a pretty closed system and have been researching other alternatives that we have in mind, but we thought we would see if anyone else has done something similar and might have good suggestions before we try to move forward.

Thanks,

John

My best friend “Cut and Paste” works for me so far. It gives me the opportunity to review and adjust what the clients sees on the invoice.

I do add a custom field to Spiceworks so the reporting only shows me the billable service records that I need. And when I finish the invoice, I update the Spiceworks ticket with the invoice number from the accounting package so I know I invoiced the work.

I can’t tell you what to choose, but I can tell you what NOT to choose and that would be Sage/Peachtree. It’s pretty difficult to get anything out of the “Pervasive” DB.

What did you wind up doing?

We are still doing cut and paste. The lack of this feature, to me while not a big enough reason to not use Spiceworks, is a huge shortcoming for it. As an MSP all of our profit is based on billable time, if we are spending time putting info into a ticket and then having to put that same info into a billing\invoicing system, even with cut and paste, it takes time. Cutting time out of that billing process by being able to integrate Spiceworks ticket info into would be extremely beneficial.
