What are you plugging it in to?
You want the adapter based on the connecting switch.

Sorry @Rod-IT the nic is the built in nic on a dl380 g8 server

But what are you connecting it to, the other end - match the brand of SFP to the switch on the other end.

If you are looking for an SFP the does the 10Gb-BaseT then look at ones that compatible with HPE. You can look at Startech.com and Axiom as well. and does where you are connecting to support 10Gb-BaseT
thanks rod, im buying both the intel and cisco ones so let you know what one does work

I expect both will work.
So to close the topic, how did you get on, what were the results?
in the end @Rod-IT i used the intel nic not the cisco one but probably the cisco one would had worked as well

Wow - I never buy branded SFPs? Cisco SFP £600, non Cisco SFP £45 same for HPE or any other vendor.

Robert never said what he paid (or where he bought it and it would be wrong to assume the link posted was the place), but eBay do branded ones from £10 up, so I trump your £45.

HI, looks like I’m late to this conversation. For what it’s worth here’s a guide to the Intel SFP Modules: SFP+ Modules and Cables Compatible with Intel® Ethernet Converged…
Let us know how everything works out.
