So I have been using SW to try and clean up our PC inventory which has gone largely neglected for the last 6 years or so. We are finding that there are PCs taken OUT of service since the 1st discovery using the inventory tool.

So my problem is that once these are no longer seen on the network - the SW database still keeps them in current inventory.

My questions are :

1.) Shouldn’t SW NOT report on items that it has only seen in the past and

2.) How can I correct the errors on the list

3.) Is there a simple way to flush the current database and have SW start all over again in building the inventory population

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Spiceworks needs to maintain old machines in its database until you manually delete them. I have some that have been out of service for quite some time but I don’t want SW to delete them and lose all the notes, and other info, I have associated with them. When I’m ready to take them completely off I’ll just delete them.

So, if you find a computer you don’t want any more just delete it. It won’t be found again unless it is reconnected to the network.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Are you syncing with AD? If so, you need do a cleanup in Active Directory & DNS. It’s not Spiceworks.

{"@type":"Person
Little-Green-Man
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Little-Green-Man"}},{"@type":"Answer

Also, the simplest way is to just install a clean instance and don’t import any old data.

{"@type":"Person
Little-Green-Man
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Little-Green-Man"}},{"@type":"Answer
