I finally managed to complete the review that I started while the Bassbreaker Saga was in full swing. This one is a 3-for-1 special: Basstortion, Fat Fuzz Factory, and Mastotron, all 3 by made by ZVex Effects.

I’m happy it’s finally done, because this particular review was plagued with issues:

  • Mediocre audio quality
  • Corrupted video recordings
  • Missing still images
  • Crashing video edition software (hint: don’t use Pinnacle Studio)
  • Disappearing drafts

I managed to get a better microphone, salvage some of the audio, and edit something quick with Lightworks, however its free tier limits rendering to 720p. It looks “meh”, but the audio is great (I think…)

This is one of the reasons I don’t get into recording videos for social media. :smile: It’s a whole hobby unto itself, and I’m still barely getting back up to speed in audio recording!

I just do it because YouTube is basically free storage :slight_smile: There isn’t gonna be any professional production quality on my channel. It’s an interesting change of pace compared to what I do day-to-day, though.

I’m sure most of my problems were due to user error of some sort, but at least I found a good all-around microphone that I can use with my phone. Compared to the 2 or 3 I tried before, it’s the holy grail of portable mics. Compared to my previous setups, this is infinitely better. I need to add it on the pile of gear to review…
