I’m wanting to start a spicecorps in the Lafayette or North west side of Indianapolis.
Anyone interested in joining?
4 Spice ups
Cake? Where is the cake? Is it chocolate cake?
I’m interested in attending a few meetings, and then possibly getting a southside group up and running. I would like to be able to attract folks from Indy, Columbus and Bloomington as well as all points in between or from where ever.
It would be great to be able to have a northside and southside meeting on the same night, with teleconference capabilities so a single presenter can deliver to multiple sites and many more people. Maybe even have some friendly competition for attendance and such.
Thoughts? Of course, we need not restrict this to only the Indy area. Other cities could join in, too!
When we did this for a SBS user group on Oklahoma I used to run, we had a few rules, such as door prizes - had to be present to win, and contributions were asked for (and accepted via paypal) to cover the expenses for the webex or liveseat sessions. No profit was ever made, and when we had more money than needed for the next 3 meetings, we did not ask for donations until we were down to one session in the account. We also publicized the donations list (not the amount), and every month, the paypal account totals were included in the meeting ‘business discussion’.

Cool, well it sounds like we have a handful at least. How about we start off with a meet and greet and decide on what topics to discuss in future meetings? The first meeting we can hold a pitch in so each person brings a snack or drink.
@ Indy’s Computer Geek I like your paypal account idea about the contributions and holding a business discussion. Also I agree, it should be open to anyone who wishes to attend.
First off though, we need a place to meet. Does anyone have a location in Indy where its not to far for anyone to attend? Perhaps a location in Zionsville or near the Pyramids?
As for time, if we can get everything together perhaps we can meet sometime later this month or early next.
Throw out some ideas!
@Rivitir - thanks for the agreement.
I’m in Franklin, so Zionsville is a bit out of the way for me. Someplace downtown would be better for me. If needed be, perhaps nearer to Fishers and Fry’s, as I am up there usually once a week fro parts and such?

Fishers or Castleton area would work for me. I would rather not go downtown unless we have to.
Does anyone have a meeting area in that general area?
Unfortunately, I do not. My one client up there does not have a large enough space as well as legal and security concerns.

I can host. Tippecanoe County has a large conference room and several small conference rooms on the first floor of the Government building, downtown Lafayette.

Fishers/Castleton would be ideal for me since I live between Fishers and Noblesville. Anywhere along the northside of Indy would be great.

It looks like Indianapolis has its own spicecorps:

So my question is, is their enough interest in the Lafayette and surrounding area to support a spicecorp? I know 3 of us live around here, I’m sure if I spoke with some of my counterparts in the area I could get a couple more. Do you guys know of anyone that would like to attend?
The SpiceCorp meeitng last night was great. I really enjoyed meeting others with an interest in SW!

Thats what I heard, unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it last night. I’m going to try and be at the next one.
I’m still hoping to get a Lafayette Spicecorp going though if their is enough interest.
Keep me posted if you decide to get one going n the northside of Indy. Lafayette is a bit farther than I’m interested in driving home from.

Hey echo, is your offer still valid?
I would really like to have us start a spicecorps locally. If we can have at least a handful of people attend (I’ll bring cake) I’m sure we can start one.
I keep trying to go to the indy one, but its so far, kinda difficult to get to.
If everyone on here is still interested, let me know and we’ll see if we can get the ball rolling. Maybe we can meet later this month.
The offer is still valid. I’ve booked the conference room for a month out - Wednesday, June 8th. We’d be especially interested in hearing from anyone that is using Spiceworks to handle helpdesk tickets.

Great to hear!
Anyone else interested in forming a group?

I sent spiceworks a PM to see how we can go about getting started. I’m glad we are all interested, but we only have 3 of us. I would like to see if we could invite some others to join and get at least a group of 5 or more.
Are either of you guys part of GLITS or any user groups where we could invite others to attend?
My thought is we could go ahead and setup a date/time and send out some invites. We may be able to get a good group together.
We could start off with the first meeting about the help desk, I would be happy to show my setup.
