Whenever we print the printer make some noise if there’s no paper in the manual tray. Then it just stops. If we however load paper into the manual tray, then the printer prints from there.

I would suspect either a paper jam inside the printer, check everywhere you can see and opne, or there may have been a jam and the user has forcably removed the paer damaging the mechanism for picking up the sheets. Look inside to where the ruber pickup roller is and also clean this with some isopropal alcohol.
Can you please provide us with a Printer Settings Configuration page like the one in the attachment to see how the printer is configured?

Check the driver settings on your computer. Perhaps it is set to print to the bypass/manual tray by default and always wants to print there. Also check to see what type of paper its looking for (for example, maybe the bypass tray is set to 8.5 x 11 paper, and Tray 1 is set to some other type, such as A4, etc, so that every time you try to print an 8.5 x 11 document, it directly goes to the bypass tray.
Check these settings, both on the printer itself (if it has such settings, on a web interface or directly on the printer’s screen) AND in the printer driver settings on your computers. Make sure it is set both under the “General” tab, as well as in the “Advanced” tab under “Printing Defaults” (assuming you’re using Windows)
Hope this helps.
I am having similar issue on a brand new LM MS415dn setup for one of our dept’s, printing fine until next day got a call that it’s defaulting to the MP tray. Found this thread and will look into to see if it works. Please advise if anything different then my findings, thanks!
