Hey guys,

As the title says, looking for recommendations on a new ups for our small business. Looking to put our critical hardware on it. (i.e switch, router, gateway, pbx…etc) Just mostly looking for recommendations on trusted brands. We mostly have APC ups systems now, but those are the smaller ones just used for smaller systems. I will also need to do some simple power calculations to find the draw…

Thanks!

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Here’s a helpful post from Limey to check out as well as a similar post on finding a rack UPS . If you can provide some additional specifics on the wattage of the equipment you want to protect and the runtime requirements, that will help the community give you some specific recommendations.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer
Hey guys,

As the title says, looking for recommendations on a new ups for our small business. In order to streamline the options I have a few questions:

What are the makes and models of products planning to be connected to the UPS system? (I can help find the draw.)

In the event of a power outage, how much runtime is needed?

Will the UPS system need to support room for growth? How much of a percentage?

What electrical (voltage and amps) and wall outlet is in the room for the UPS system?

Will this info I’ll be able to provide a solution.

{"@type":"Person
melissa-tripp-lite
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/melissa-tripp-lite"}},{"@type":"Answer
{"@type":"Person
michaelmcmorris4688
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/michaelmcmorris4688"}},{"@type":"Answer
I have Eaton 9130s and really enjoy them. UPS and battery are 2U high each and come with a 3-year warranty. ENERGY STAR qualified and 4-post rail kit is included. Add the web card for connectivity. We can hook you up with a formal reseller quote if you want.

John mentioned the Eaton 9130 which has some pretty robust voltage regulation (aka online UPS). If you are not using a TeraStation 7120r please calculate 60 Watt power consumption for the UPS calculation. 60 Watt is more than a TeraStation would use under full load but you are save with this value.

If you are using TeraStation 7000 series please calcuate 150 Watt power consumption for the unit itself (this one is equipped with two power supplies).

Boot up power consumption would be 80 Watt during HDD spin up for the normal TeraStations and 250 Watt for the TeraStation 7000.
