We are currently using Spanning, which is horrible when restoring data from backups. I am looking for a solution that restores backup quickly and has good customer service. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you
Jason

Yup.
Spanning used to be awesome. Then Kaseya bought them and quite literally broke the program.

We’ve done a little research on the matter. We haven’t been able to implement it yet but we’re looking pretty closely at cubebackup. The downside is you need to supply your own storage to send the backups to. From what we’ve seen, it looks a lot like what Spanning was like, back when Spanning was the gold standard other Google backups aspired to be.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, we do not want to pay more for storage.

I’ll put in a word for Cubebackup as well. I’m evaluating it at the moment. You can do on-premises or cloud storage. I haven’t run through a recovery drill yet so I can’t say how well that works. You get a 14 day trial and the licensing is both inexpensive and flexible.

I’m still trying to figure out what the catch is.

Hey
I hear you—restoring data reliably from Google Workspace backups is essential, especially when time and data integrity are critical. If Spanning isn’t working out, you might consider some robust alternatives like CrashPlan, Druva, Afi.ai, Backupify, and Spin.ai. These tools offer faster restores, flexible recovery options, and better customer support than Spanning.
Worth checking out a few trials to see what fits your needs best.
