I’m 16 and leave school at the end of June…
I’m looking to get an apprenticeship around September, but I’m not having much luck finding ones that cover what I’m after.
I want some form of support role, keeping things running… managing networks, equipment etc
So far I’ve only managed to find purely telecoms based, or programming stuff.
I was wondering if anyone knew of anything, or perhaps their business was running an apprenticeship scheme?
I’m based in the UK, South-West Somerset / Wiltshire area but can travel a bit I suppose…
Thanks!

Have you taken a look at Just IT? They offer a range of IT Apprenticeship, with work experience and free CompTIA and MS certifications as well. http://www.justit.co.uk/apprenticeships/for-apprentices?gclid=CKu4hZ6KpLUCFXHLtAodPl8AYg If you want to do Help Desk, and start from the bottom and work your way up, an apprenticeship will be fine. If you want to do programming or anything that requires specialist skills, you’d be better off going to Uni and getting a Bachelors degree. Either way, good luck.
I did my apprenticeship through QA, http://apprenticeships.qa.com/apprenticeship-programmes/microsoft---it-systems--networking There’s a fair few around the UK with different starting dates, Hope this helps.
I’ve taken a look and they seem quite good so I’ll probably send off an application…
I’ve seen QA before, but not yet found this page! I’ll be applying
If you were in the States I might have something for you in the not too distant future.
That’s a shame…
I’m considering moving to the US in a few years, I prefer it. But that probably won’t happen as I’ve still 3 years or so to decide!

Look for the jobs advertised as ‘helpdesk technician’ or similar.
