Looking for Remote Support Tool

Hey everyone! I am looking for a tool to assist me with remote support of my users in the company. I have always used Logmein Rescue and have had great success with it as it has a lot of nice features in it. I was wondering what is everyone else using and what would you recommend?

Teamviewer.

I have always used it personally, and have always implemented it in offices wherever I have had the chance.

If its for Internal Use only, I’d opt for something like RealVNC, UltraVNC TightVNC, If its for remote support then Teamviewer is the way forward!

I’ve also used TeamViewer, but some more information about your infrastructure, Operating Systems needing support, is AD a requirement, the number of computers/users, number of concurrent connections needed, and the number of Technicians that would be using it may assist others in recommending other viable solutions that may suit your needs.

You can combine both internal/LAN administration with remote support over the Internet in one tool. Check out Remote Utilities.

Hey Kyle - We were in the same boat but got sick of the price hikes all the time. We switched to ScreenConnect and haven’t looked back. It’s honestly one of the best investments we’ve made (one time fee of $600 for 2 licenses/con-current sessions and unlimited computers). It’s been at least a year since we made the switch and it’s been rock solid.

We use Beanywhere but you have a lot of information about alternatives all over the forum. What are your specific needs? How many users?

+1 for screenconnect. Used Bomgar at a Bank, was awesome, but screenconnect is just as good at a fraction of the cost.

I use TightVNC for internal users. I use Mikogo for the occasional have to get on a laptop on the other side of the world kind of stuff.

I use Log-me-in for WAN remote connections. For internal LAN I use both Remote Desktop Connection and RealVNC.

After LMI went crazy I picked up on a deal posted by a Citrix Rep for their GoToAssist and I have to say I really like the product.

I hadn’t heard of Comodo’s product, I might have to check it out as well.

Our first into the foray has been GoToAssist. They had a free 30 day trial that worked well for us. We are not true IT support but is handy for setting up printers and copiers that are 30 plus minutes away. One tech at the computer can usually get 4-5 times the customer’s taken care of than a field tech because of the lack of driving in between. Now if there is multiple computers that need setting up we will usually send a tech.

Teamviewer for us. We have a 3 channel corporate license. It gives us unlimited connections per tech. We also have the mobile device tool so we can remote into user’s smartphones/tablets and take care of those too. It’s been a real blessing. We also enjoy all of Teamviewer’s features like file transferring, recording, VPN, remote reboot into safe mode, unattended installations, multiple user accounts for logging, etc. Plus it integrates into our LogicNow software for MSPs.

Teamviewer is pretty slick.

There are a couple of different versions that you can go with. The highest end includes a msi for remote installation. If you don’t get that msi you are going to have to install on every endpoint manually unless your users can follow directions pretty well. The EXE can’t customize everything 100% without interaction, so PDQdeploy and the like won’t save you there. It is still worth it though.

I use TeamViewer for remote and from home.

I have used LogMeIn until they went the pay way…

I have also used Join.Me, not a great product, but OK in a pinch…

Internally we use RDP and RealVNC depending on OS and PC specs…

Lots of choices but there are many variables to consider before you choose a solution… sometimes the correct solution is a few sw packages to cover all your bases and needs…
