Hi I just wanted to check a query regarding loopback processing.

I have an OU with only computer object inside of it. Linked to this OU are 5 GPOs. 1 GPO has loopback processing (on the computer settings side) and has user settings applied. As I understand it these user settings are applied to the OU computer objects because the loopback processing is enabled.

Another GPO linked to the same OU has no loopback processing enabled but has only mapped drive user settings. These user settings have applied to all of the computer objects in the OU - I was not expecting this to work as the user settings should not apply to the computer objects.

Is this due to the loopback processing that was enabled in the other GPO that was inked to the same OU?

Thanks for your knowledge!!!

Also anyone recommend any good books/courses on GPOs?

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Yes, it is due to loopback processing being enabled. Remember that GPO settings are added together from all applicable GPOs. For example, I use a specific GPO to turn on loopback processing. It doesn’t do anything else. With that GPO enabled on the OU, however, causes all other GPOs applied with user settings to affect all users logged onto the machines.

What you’re seeing is expected behavior.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Group Policy loopback feature to apply Group Policy Objects (GPOs) that depend only on which computer the user signs in to.
