I’m on the lookout for a managed IT support company to handle what we’d consider major/business risk style incidents when nobody else is available.

Has anyone has any experience in this area? I’m not looking for day to day helpdesk support but more for a higher level engineer support - for example, lets say a leased line goes down and nobody is available to handle it, we could escalate it to the “support company” and have them handle the issue with the technical know how. In that particular case the “know how” would boil down to investigating the issue and contacting the provider, rather than actually fixing the line itself!

As this is the sort of thing that would require handing over information and a domain administrator login I’m looking for a well established and highly recommended vendor to work on a contract basis, probably on an x callouts a year deal.

This is a new area for me though so any advice would be appreciated too

Cheers Scott - yes, definitely something along those lines. Some sort of MSP contract would work - finding a reliable and trustworthy company is probably my biggest hurdle

This is actually something I do for several clients in the US. You may want to look for independent consultants in the UK who do this. There are many of us, with years (decades) of skills and experience. We just got tired of a “real job” like like the flexibility consulting gives.
