So, We will be bringing on a new sysadmin, a position we have never had a dedicated person in before. We have a couple old laptops that are getting on in age that have native serial adapters but we would like to just give the new person a laptop that will fill all their needs without grabbing a second device.

What laptops are any of the community buying currently to give techs serial access to devices?

Big Green Man and you don’t have issues? I seem to always have problems with the USB to serial connectors.

The prolific chips had a lot of issues, but not the adapters with FTDI chips. I have yet to find a device that won’t work with that adapter.
