Hi all,
We are migrating to a new XenApp 6.5 with 6 servers.
My question is, how do you manage these XenApp servers for maintenance? Like when you want to test a new published application?
At the moment, Im doing this:
-
Disable logons on Server1 (for example).
-
Install the published application, publish it to server1
-
Quickly enable the logins on Server1. Start the new published application
-
Disable back the logons to Server1, so nobody can logon to this server.
Whats the best procedure for this?
Thanks!

I have 6 Xenapp servers, for testing I have a 7th that doesn’t associate with the farm. From there I will publish a new app and test myself. If the app is specific I will get a test bed of users and assign them to that server, then give them a unique login for that specific Citrix test server. After testing the app will be published to all the rest and normal logon resumes.

Our test server is in the farm, but the applications available to standard users don’t run on it. A separate set of apps that run exclusively on that server are set up for admins to use. If we need a wider testing group, we’ll push some users onto the test server temporarily by publishing the test server apps to those users.
