Just something funny to share! It’s not like any other browser won’t crash, but there is humor when a Microsoft engineer installs a competitor’s browser to get through a tech demo on Azure. Is that irony?

I wonder how much ribbing he got when he went back to the office.

Probably none… you’d be surprised how many Chrome installs there are on company devices.

ha ha ha ha, that always reminds me when you go to a presentation and the presenter gets out their shiny new MacBook then log into either Citrix or Remote Desktop !

I’m more surprised he didn’t have it installed from the start.

This is still my favorite meme on the browser subject.

Use the tools that work.

I am not surprised  Microsoft support technicians suggest to use Google Chrome at times

Lol that’s pretty bad and funny at the same time.

I don’t think I’ve been in an office yet where anyone has preferred Internet Explorer over Chrome. I’m not obsessed with Chrome, I just find Internet Explorer slow and lags, hard to customize or even change the default search engine, limited add-in support, doesn’t really support themes and you have to restart your computer to update it.

That’s just not right…

IE.jpg

My personal favorite. I’ve had a few more stability issues with Chrome than I used to, but it still blows other browsers out of the water.

One of my co-workers was watching that stream live yesterday and shouted out about it when it happened. We spent the next 10 minutes laughing our butts off about it.

Being that Microsoft makes so much built into windows and makes it so compatible with so much having a few glitches isn’t a surprise. But installing chrome during a demo of your products just seems like bad form. You would think he might have run the presentation over a few times to make sure he didn’t hit a snag on a demo. But you have to give the guy credit that he did what was needed to keep moving.

Why is it Microsoft pushes Edge as the best, fastest, most secure browser, when they use Chrome? If Microsoft needs to use Chrome, then they should know to step it up and fix the issues faster. Or make Edge a chromium browser, or instead of having Edge / Internet Exploder installed, offer a dropdown with which browser would you like to install.

Dumped Chrome lately and went to firefox for almost everyone in our company. The difference in resource usage with tabs is crazy and Chrome cache clearing exercises were getting out of hand. One of my users had to clear his Chrome cache every night in order for it to work correctly the next day (and that was only sometimes) but after switching him to FireFox, he has had no issues. This has been the story with our entire user base here. I miss Chrome so much… but man is it terrible now.

But how many of those installs were deliberately done by the user?

We have a number of browser based programs that depend on Java, and just won’t work with Chrome anymore. We’ve had to switch to FireFox or even IE in some cases. I think Google took their spat with Oracle a little too far.
