Hi All,
I got an error on one of my Windows Server 2022 servers after the March patches. On each installation, a rollback of changes appears after rebooting. This update cannot be installed. I found solutions but unfortunately not very helpful

Is the error the same, what does the event log show?

If it’s not going on, there could be an incompatibility with it and/or your server.

I don’t have experience with 2022 yet, so hopefully the following isn’t useless.

Does 2022 use the cbs.log while updating? If so, starting with the timestamps immediately prior to the date/time of the attempted installation, search for the text below, include the comma and space.

If there are such entries, the info following the first few Error entries may point at the problem.

Edit: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS is the location and you may have to look in both the “cbs.log” and the “cbspersist*.log”. For the persist log, look for the one with the correct date if there are more than one.

The error is typical with .NET issues. Please try and update .NET first along with confirming there is enough space.

Have you cleared the Windows update cache?

Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and run the Windows Update troubleshooter.

Not sure this will be helpful, but in my case my Windows Server 2022 (file server) would not install updates after October 2024, to fix it I mounted the .iso file and processed a reinstall keeping files and settings… It was my first time doing it on a server so I was hesitant, but it worked out without issues.
