Okay guys

I need help. I have read all of the forms on certificates up to this point. I haven’t been able to successfully follow any of the processes. Here is where I am. I have a generic certificate for our domain:

*.ccuniversity.edu

I don’t have access to the CSR used to create it, as it was done a while ago by a different member of our team. I can’t easily rekey the cert because all of our web services are using it. I do have access to our apache servers which already have the certificate bundle from godaddy broken down into a key file and a crt.

These servers work great so I know the certificate is good. When I copy the cert and key files over to my windows spiceworks server, apache – and subsequentially spiceworks refuses to start. When I replace those files with the backup of the generic ones that come with spiceworks, it works fine.

When I open and compare the default key file vs the one I have, they seem similar. However, when I compare the default ssl-cert.pem vs the one I made, their is one difference (aside from the content of the keys), is that the default key has line breaks every 63 characters, and mine has none.

Any ideas?

There’s a great how to for installing a cert in Spiceworks, I’ll see if I can find it, unless someone beats me to it.

Here it is http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/922-assign-ssl-certificate-from-iis-to-spiceworks-w-existing-cert
