The new install will not start… guessing it doesn’t like the Data & DB I copied over from a backup of the previous install. (I followed the steps in the Moving Spiceworks post)

So I guess I should have upgraded from 6.2 to 7.0 on the old installation BEFORE moving my data & db folders to the new 7.0 install on the new server.

Unfortunately The old SW v6.0.xx install has been uninstalled already… what do I do now…? Where can I find the previous 6.2 SW installer so that I can reinstall and then upgrade Before I migrate.

Are you getting any errors when it starting, need a little bit more info. Is it just hanging at starting or something else?

Yeah, you needed to upgrade or just go with a clean install and not transfer any old data.

If you would have upgraded, I believe it would have made a 6.2 installer for you.

BSOD’D - it just hanging at starting.

Bill - not sure I follow - If i would have upgraded first I wouldn’t have needed the 6.2 installer.

So how do I get one now… the previous version installer…?

BTW - I have been using SW for 5 years… clean install and no data transfer is not an option.

Please open a support ticket with us and we’ll help get you up. Restoring a 6.2 database to 7.0 should be just fine, it’s really no different to the program than if you had upgraded it on the previous host.

What have you done to troubleshoot? Restart, change ports. Was it running as a service, if so is it running with the correct credentials?

Restart… check

Uninstalled & Reinstalled… check

Changed ports… check

Domain admin credentials… same as before… check

I have not tried to launch with default empty Data & DB… guessing it would work but not sure it would get us anywhere.

Next troubleshooting step…

Copied Central Install Data & DB folders from last backup to the Scanner installation. Then I will upgrade that and make a new backup to then copy to the new final destination on SW 7.0.x

This solution worked.
