Hi,

I’ve been handed the job of moving our spiceworks to a new server. What steps must I do to do such a thing?

3 Spice ups
  1. Update your Spiceworks installation to the newest version on your old server.

  2. Backup your database on the old server.

  3. Close down Spiceworks on the old server.

  4. Install Spiceworks (same version) on the new server.

  5. Restore from backup.

To explain some of the steps better;

On step 1, download the newest version from www.spiceworks.com

On step 2, navigate to Settings and then Backup Configuration. Set a location if you don’t already have one and run a backup.

On Step 3 select the Spiceworks Tray application and exit SW.

On step 4, well, I’m sure you can install Spiceworks. :slight_smile:

On Step 5 follow the directions on this page: Restore Spiceworks Backup .
