I’m a huge music fan, and listen to all sorts of genres. I’m always curious and open to hearing what others find as great music/playlists.

I used to use Pandora forever and even payed for the no-commercial option. About a year ago a friend of mine blew my mind with a newer site ( 8Tracks ) that allows you to listen to/upload playlists that the world can enjoy.

If you’re into music, and have not heard of 8tracks, prepare to be amazed and you can thank me later!

Anyways, what is your music of choice while at work? Currently I’ve become moderately obsessed with dubstep and mashups. Any recommendations are welcome. I’m pretty much a fan of anything that’s not screaming in my ears or gospel.

I think someone else made this same thread late last week.

I’ll say the same thing here that I did there: I listen to a bit of everything but right now I’m on a Zeppelin kick.

However, for a good soundtrack that will generally please everyone (for people whose music is loud enough for others to hear) just look up a guy named Mike Masse on YouTube and put all his videos in a playlist with shuffle/repeat turned on.

80+ covers of music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. All amazingly done.

Wow. He’s awesome! I’ve never heard of him… Adding him to favorites now

I may be way behind as ive never heard of those players…I found last fm years ago and stuck with it!

music tastes range from chilled out enigma, enya, moby, lamb…through to metallica, koRn, staind, slipknot…and stonesour which im currently listening to…to name but a few!

I listen to instrumental stuff because singing/lyrics of any kind just seem distracting at work. Plus it’s nice to change it up so you don’t get burned out on your favorite music.

At work, my Pandora stations are set to:

Amon Tobin,

Tearglass and Plateglass,

TRS-80,

DJ Food,

Boards of Canada,

Blockhead,

Bonobo,

Trentmoller,

Beethoven,

etc.

At home/in the car I listen to Pantera, Lamb of God, Between the Buried and Me, etc. But that doesn’t really jive to well in an office environment. And like I said, it’s really just nice to mix it up and listen to things you normally wouldn’t.

I’ve always rather enjoyed heavier and more dramatic rock and the absolute paragon of perfection within that genre, in my mind, at least, is Within Temptation. Sharon den Adel has a fantastic voice and the band is always trying something new and different with their music. The best part, though, is that regardless of where they take their inspiration from, the songs almost always work. I cannot sing their praises enough.

I have been on an Artist named “K-os” kick. He blends literally every genre of music together like rock, punk, (ol’ skool) hip-hop, electric, folks. Its kinda hard to describe him but he has a song for everyone. Check out “dog is mine” its a great song to get you into his style of music.

I’ll give that a try, the smartest music site i think is Jango. I Heart Radio is decent. Classical until the afternoon then some rock/metal to get me through the day.

i use spotify where i have a few different playlists…sometimes its acoustic/ mumford and sons, sometimes its static-x and sevendust…all depends on how crappy of a day i am having…

A little bit of everything but lately Bluegrass. Trampled By Turtles.

I don’t get to listen to music at work, but if I did it would be a mix of artists like And One, Swedish House Mafia, Delirium, Terrorvision and Sisters of Mercy.

Reality- I’m definitely a fan of Swedish House. Also, i’m diggin’ the shirt!

Cheers - it was swag from last years Spiceworld

There’s some really good Electro/House mixes on YouTube, I tend to pop one of those on when I just need some music with no messing about.

Yep! I was there dishing out all kinds of EMC value swag. Great time. Yeah I agree. Youtube is the one stop shop for hours of entertainment (of every kind, really…)

Ah, you must be at the US one - I don’t remember you guys being in London2012.

Obviously with EMC being a Global Leader you’ll be in London for this year… hint hint

Yep I was at the Austin one. But who knows!? London is only a tiny pond jump away. I’ve always wanted to go to London…hmm…
