We all have those moments where nothing is broken, nothing needs my attention, I am able to just sit back, have a coffee and read some spiceworks.

I also use these moments to put my headphones in and take 5 minutes to relax.

When you get these chances, do you listen to music, if so what type of music do you listen to?

As my boss refers to it: GeezerRock (70’s rock)

Growing up and living in Southwestern PA, I’m a country boy through and through. Can’t go wrong with Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Eric Church.

Classic Rock or New Rock

Mostly TV and movie soundtracks, many from ones most people would have to run IMDB for. Some classical and lately I’ve toyed with the notion of just lifting the audio from some favorite TV shows for the phone to listen to. I’ve seen the episodes and know what they look like. CBS Radio Mystery Theatre is good listening as well.

Post-Metal is pretty good for chilling out. Pelican in particular are awesome.

Black Metal!!!

If I need to unwind for a bit, I listen to this: http://www.jazzandrain.com/

Otherwise, I listen to podcasts or audiobooks.

Cannot stop listening to Valendusk

Classic Rock/Metal

Blues

Shadows

As long as it has guitars, its good.

When I am home and the fiancee is out. I make a nice cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and game. There is nothing more relaxing then that to me.

Music I listen to usually as well, and it is just 70s and 80s with a sprinkling of some 90s and recent stuff.

“I like my coffee black, just like my metal” - Mindless Self Indulgence.

I guess I also responded to OP by quoting that line as well.

I’m a huge fan of progressive rock and metal. I’m currently sitting listening to The Pineapple Thief - Magnolia. Linked below as I think they’re fantastic and everyone should hear them :stuck_out_tongue:

Anything as long as it’s not country! Also needs to be SFW, because I don’t really like headphones, as I tend to forget about them and try to get up and walk away without taking them out. Kinda funny to see the IT guy nearly fall over backwards because he is still plugged in, lol.

Depends on my mood, and what I can actually listen to at my desk. I don’t like to/I’m not totally free to wear headphones here at work.

“I was told that I could listen to the radio at a reasonable volume from 9 to 11…”

Electronic

  • Crystal Method
  • Chemical Brothers
  • Daft Punk

Rock

  • Band of Skulls
  • Black Keys
  • Civil Wars (a bit more folk-y)
  • Eagles of Death Metal
  • Queens of the Stone Age

Hard Rock/Metal (with the volume down, unfortunately)

  • Killswitch Engage
  • Norma Jean
  • Parkway Drive

Ipod on shuffle, with my taste in music you never know what you’re going to get.

Yesterdays selection: Taylor Swift → Atreyu → Eminem → Greenday → McFly → Enter Shikari → Nightwish…

Depends on how much of a “relax” can be gleaned at the time.

Normally I’ve got Chill Radio running but if the time is being used for scripting/automation duties I prefer something electronic - usually Infected Mushroom/Pendulum/Prodigy.

I like to put my phone on shuffle and listen to anything that comes up from rock, heavy metal and alot of Eminem. Have to support an artist from the same state.

The Amelie soundtrack and Up soundtrack are my favorites! They go so well with a cup of coffee and some peace & quiet. It’s basically like you’re in a relaxing coffeehouse (and hey, even if that escape lasts for all of five minutes - I’ll take it!).

Any kind of music can be good.

Note: rap and hip-hop do not count as music. I have a good friend of African-American heritage who confided to me that they as an ethnic group were sick of us “white folk” stealing their music, so they got together and came up with worst crap they could think of just so they could secretly sit back and laugh at us when we stole that too and said “This is so cool!”
