What’s up spicy friends?!
Are we still cooking with spice out there? Where’s all my foodies at?

In my time in the community I’ve learned that when Spiceworks Community members recommend something, even when it’s not tech-related, it’s fair to assume it’s going to be awesome.

So when I came across Wickles pickles mentions on Spiceworks here…and here…and in this older post here, I thought, I’ve got to try these spicy pickles.

Now if you’re not a pickle fan, you probably should have stopped reading already, but if you do like pickles and are open to trying sweet pickles, you might like these. I also should mention that they’re spicy, like just a tad spicier than you’d expect.

If I hadn’t been shopping for groceries online, I probably wouldn’t have found myself in this situation. But when I saw my local store carries 3 different types of Wickles: the original, pickle chips, and pickled okra, I added them all to my cart planning to pick one later, except I forgot to remove them, and was left with this scenario. So here we have, my mildly spicy review of Wickles Pickles. (*jalapeno for scale)

Wickles Pickle Chips Wickles Okra Wickles Original Pickles
These use a fresher cucumber that isn’t fermented first, described as brighter, crinkle-cut, and thinner than the OGs. Pickled okra using the same Original pickle brine. Based on a 100 year old family recipe, the OG Wickles are the perfect blend of “blend of sweet and spicy, garlic and dill.”
I expected to like these the most, but was surprised to find they were less crunchy than the original Wickles. As a fan of pickled okra, I was expecting to like these, expect I had never had a sweet pickled okra and found the sugary brine makes them even slimier than okra is already. This is IMO as near to a perfect pickle to accompany your lunch that you could find. Crunchy, spicy, sweet. Great flavor.
7/10 5/10 9/10

So there you have it, my mildly spicy take on the Wickles products my store had. I realize I tend to stick to the original flavor of things before branching out and trying other specialized flavors. Now I have Spiceheads to thank for a new weekly grocery staple and I feel like I’m treating myself at lunch.

And feel free to use “mildly spicy” anytime you’d like to share your observations, review, takes, insights on things perhaps maybe others would find…well, bland. New cord management strategy, is there a crow perching daily in view of your office window, have you automated something boring, share your #mildlyspicy stories with us on Spiceworks and if you can, use your favorite pepper for scale.

Would you try Wickles pickles?
  • Yes, absolutely!
  • Sure, I’ll give most things a try once.
  • No, thanks.

I’m happy to have contributed in a small way to your culinary treat.

I’ll almost certainly be having grilled hot dogs with Wickles Spicy Red Sandwich Spread at some point this holiday weekend.

Yes! Thank you for spicing up my lunches!
It’s fun having a jar for gatherings, everyone always wants to try them.

And I haven’t found the spread yet, but that looks interesting!

Not to go off topic but similar in ways… When I was in Austin a number of years ago I picked some of these up… if you have never…try them. If they don’t have them around, they can be ordered here. https://shorturl.at/JYnxo

Trying to get a jar of Jed’s but they don’t ship to Minnesota. I hear they are 10 fold better.

I’ll have to see if I can find those! Love spicy and sweet.

I haven’t seen these in the stores around me but we have tried Famous Dave’s spicy pickles and liked them
