Since I had a Windows update on 02/05/25, which was most likely the Win11 24H2 update, my Xerox Workcentre 6605DN scanner has stopped working. All of my settings are EXACTLY as they were before the Windows upgrade. From the research I have conducted, it seems the problem is my SMB protocol. I have tried following some online directions but to no avail. Although my computer is high-end and the software is up to date, my Workcentre model was bought in 2016. I do not have SMB protocols 2.0, 3.0, or 3.1. My system shows only SMB 1.0 and there are three different options. I have tried them all but to no avail. Xerox can help me only during the day when I am at work and not in the evenings.

If I had known I had 10 days to roll-back 24H2 to 23H2, then I would have done that. Now, I would have to do a clean install and I am not skilled enough to do that. This happened about 5 years ago with my old computer (Win7 Pro) and through searching online, I found that a recent update at that time was causing the problem. I was able to identify the update and uninstall it which put me back in business.

This most recent issue occurred on 02/05/25. I was having problems with my NVIDIA video card and the tech who I had working on my machine decided that after he fixed the video card problem (driver updates) that he would just update everything that was sitting in my update queue without asking me. I have asked him for help but he said he does not know the first thing about SMD issues and suggested I contact Xerox.

So here I am. Xerox cannot help unless I take a day off of work. I know this is just a settings issues but I do not know what to do. Should anyone have any suggestions, I am “all ears.”

Thanks in advance for your help .

Jim

Maybe you can check about this:

According Microsoft:

Windows 11 does not have SMB 1.0 installed by default. You can add it in Windows Features, but keep in mind that it is an old protocol and it is several versions old. If you find that fixes your issue, I would suggest to start thinking about upgrading the scanner.
