We are currently using LogMeIn Central for user to access their PC at work using their own computers/devices from outside our LAN. Our current environment is a Sonicwall NSA 2650 and windows Domain controller.

What we are trying to accomplish is that when the user connects to our network from their own device, they should have an updated antivirus solutions installed on their computers. We can restrict to a few vendors like Kaspersky, McAfee, Sophos, Trend Micro if needed. If they do not have the updated version of antivirus then they will not be able to connect to the network.

I am open to other solutions/options if this is not possible.

Thanks

If you have Sonicwall, why haven’t you configured a VPN? In my company, we have allowed users to use their personal laptops and desktops to connect to the company network via Sonicwall VPN. We documented the procedure on how to install Sonicwall onto their devices and forwarded them these instructions. Our 3rd party network team added the users to the VPN security group. From there, if they needed help with installation, we would do this via teamviewer. Once the users are connected to the Sonicwall VPN, we have them use RDP to access their desktops here in the office. Working with the users takes time, but once they are setup workflow is seamless.

Again, I suggest VPN because the use of this Firewall solution is a better practice than using logmein or teamviewer.

Thank you.

We had tried to use SSL VPN but users have complained it is slow. With SSL VPN the users are able to map their drives from their own Machines and if their local machine does not have an apporpriate AV solution we do not want them to be able to connect. This is also true for RDP access, as the users can easily transfer a bad file from their local machine to the network share and cause havoc.
