I am currently in school right now getting my CCNA. I am in the second semester of four. I was curious as to which Cert would be the best to get next?

CCENT?
CCNP?
others besides Cisco?

Thank you!

Depends… what do you want to do? Just Networking? Or actual IT? If actual IT, then I would recommend you start looking at MCSA… Or CCNP would be good since it would be fresh in your mind still. Go with CCNP.

Well if you are getting the CCNA the CCENT would be one step backwards. But if you wanna head down the network path I would go for the CCNP.

CCENT is one step back from CCNA so no point in going back.

If you’re doing the Routing and Switching CCNA maybe look at some of the others like CCNA Security, CCNA Cloud? Especially if you are just starting out and don;t wanna head straight to CCNP.

Really depends on what career direction you want to take.

I recommend CCNA Cloud. That is a big growth area.

For you to get a CCNP you need a valid CCNA, so if you like networking - go for for CCNA, then CCNP. You cant have a CCNP without a CCNA.

Along with what other stated, after ccna go ccnp, then after that, work toward other vendors or other areas like security etc.

The CCNP will always be a good look and great knowledge to have even if you do not go after the cert if you enjoy networking.

The great thing about Cisco is that 50% of things covered in the associate level(ccna) is covered in the professional level(ccnp) so it is like half of the books are review and the other half is new material, so the 3 books are not too much of a surprise.

Hi Casey - Any particular career path you’re interested in? Like others said above, your next certification depends on what route you’d like to go! There are other CCNA paths you could check out (Security, Cloud, etc.), or you could take the next step towards the CCNP.

If you happen to need any assistance with obtaining these types of certifications, New Horizons offers courses directly associated with each to help prepare you for the exam! You can check out our learning approaches here: http://www.newhorizons.com/our-learning-methods

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
