we have a small LAN of 40 users.
I was hoping if anyone here has come across any network monitoring tool, a simple one.
the goal is for the tool to list each network node by ip or computer name and which of these are consuming internet bandwidth.

Usually this is done by your outgoing router or firewall
What are you using? Most products have some basic reporting facility
I have barracuda webfilter
It has a full reporting tool
What you are asking for is inside.
Fortinet as well can provide online reporting
All the best
@sunithphilip9607 , you might want to take a look at ManageEngine OpManager. Try navigating the online demo here: http://demo.opmanager.com/ for an idea of how the monitored data is shown. If you have any specific questions, will be happy to answer.
@ManageEngine
You could take a look at PRTG , which is designed to be easy to set up and use. We offer a free version with 100 sensors ( [Video] What is a Sensor? ) that would probably be enough for your infrastructure.
To monitor bandwidth, PRTG includes sensors out-of-the-box for SNMP and netflow. Start with SNMP, because it’s much easier to set up. And you can add netflow later, if you’d like to get more detail.
To get you up-and-running faster, we have a free eLearning page , and these videos that explain how to monitor bandwidth using PRTG:
If you’d like to give PRTG a try, we offer a free 30-day trial version with unlimited sensors, which will automatically revert to our free 100-sensor version after the 30 days. There’s also a cloud/SaaS version currently in beta testing, if you’d rather use a cloud service.
If you have any questions, please just let me know!
@Paessler_AG
Solarwinds also do a 3rd party tool for this
Give NetCrunch network monitor a try. It’s automated and very easy to set up. Monitors all OSes, infrastructure devices, logs, files, application performance, bandwidth utilization and much more.
Also, this month we’re giving away free licenses of NetCrunch to spiceworks community members! 30 nodes, unlimited sensors, permanent license (not a demo). And if you try the product and give us an honest review, you can win $100 gift card from Amazon as well. It’s all here: Free network monitor licenses! Win one of three $100 Amazon gift cards!
