I’ve noticed that since the most recent Community update, or more specifically since the fix after the update, the “In The Community” feed that shows on the right side of the screen seems to mostly contain popular and slightly older threads. In addition, I no longer see the “Questions to Answer” feed occasionally pop up in its place, as used to happen previously.
In the past, it used to be easy to look over and see newly posted threads that might be of interest to me, or questions that I could answer or assist with. I could be working in the Spiceworks application, see a question, and quickly take a few seconds to provide assistance to a Spicehead in need. Now, I deliberately have to take time out from what I’m doing, and actively go into the various forums to find questions to answer. All of this means I’m not able to respond to questions and help others as much as I used to. The new layout seems (to me, anyway) to make it more difficult for those who want to help others. I know not everyone is as much of a question-answerer as I am, but if it becomes harder for people who want to answer questions, I wonder if the quality of answers will suffer as a consequence.
I’m curious, is it only me? What do you all think?

Is it actually fixed? It’s only changed once or twice for me today, I was assuming it’s still broken. If this is how it’s supposed to be, then I agree, it’s a step back.
Mine has changed a few times, but generally only one or 2 posts change at a time.
They said they were going to install a patch for that, but don’t know if they did or if it “stuck.”
I heard something about it being stuck.
Yeah, I’m right with you, Gabrielle. I do the same thing,
And while we are on the subject of the right-hand nav, the changing size of ads is a PITA. Go to click on one of the “In the Community” links just as the ad changes, changes size, and now you’re clicking on something else.

100% agreed!! It’s a small thing that I never bothered mentioning, but it drives me crazy too.
This is a universal annoyance with anything web based and that changes in size… make the display a hard coded “100x100” and force them to adhere… jumping around when it changes sizes is the worst.

I was actually just getting the opportunity to look for this, and it’s a rather huge let-down not to see the “Questions to answer” any longer. I enjoy scrolling through them to see if I can be of any assistance. Is that under the “No replies” shortcut now?

Is there any mention of this being added back if indeed there is a issue with it i.e. adding the “go to your feed” option back? I am not liking the option of going to the community each time I want to check and see what’s going on

has anyone noticed that the spicecorps groups are not being sorted properly or posted as they used to either? The lastest commented threads used to be on top but they are not any longer… I hope I am not alone is seeing this problem as well…

in our local spicecorps the “featured” items do not appear in the discussions list anymore. Not sure when this stopped.

and I though it was just me, My list barely changes at all anymore
And since I’ve never been able to find a way to have new Spiceworks Support forum questions show in my activity feed, I’m hardly answering any questions ever since this change happened. shrug I want to help, it’s just becoming more difficult to do so.

Sorry! I’ve asked Rob to pop into the thread and give an update. I believe he has a hot fix going out. Thanks!

We originally switched it out for performance reasons, but as you all noticed, it’s not updating as frequently as we’d like. The current plan is to bring back the customized feed, but do it in a more efficient way than it was previously done. We’re hoping to get that live for the next community deployment which is currently scheduled for next week.

Thanks for the update, Rob! I’ll be looking forward to seeing the change once it’s rolled out.

The customized feed is back. The first time the sidebar loads, you should see the popular topics, while we generate your customized feed, but after that you should see a customized feed, like before. We’ve got it set to refresh every 30 minutes.
Let me know how it’s working for you. Thanks!
