So after reading a few discussion on here and mentions of Ranch Dressing I decided to go and hunt some down in the Supermarket.
Never tried ranch before, not popular in UK that i am aware of. There were a few on the shelves and opted for Newman’s Own. Now i will try anything once, but was not prepared for the taste of Ranch dressing. Seriously, why is this stuff not more popular in the UK? Have tried it on steak salad, chicken salad and bacon salad is lined up for tomorrow.
If anyone can recommend any other varieties or recipes to make my own, please spam me, Not interested in UK based recipes, i need the full ‘Yank’ versions please.

Not sure of the exact recipe, but this seems similar to something that I liked… I usually don’t like ranch on salads, but this way (if it is similar to what I had), was very good. I had it with chicken wings rather than breasts, but it was coated and baked, similar to what this shows.

I prefer other salad dressings for salads. The only time I have ranch is usually as a dipping sauce with carrots and celery.

Conversely, I’m curious about the ‘brown sauce’ everyone uses on everything in the UK. We don’t have that in the US at all. What is it?

Brown sauce is one condiment used in the UK, not that popular as Ketchup as the go to. It is slightly spicy with a little sweetness in it, all depending on who made it. Goes nice with Bacon, Sausage and as a dip. Main ingredients are Tomatoes, molasses, Vinegar, Dates and some spices. HP is the most popular, but HOE’s sauce was nicer though no longer made.

If you haven’t yet done so, try it as a dip for french fries, chicken wings, carrots and celery, etc. etc.
There is also a ranch seasoning that can be used on popcorn, as an add-in for homemade bread… the options are limitless.
Ranch dressing is one of my favorite flavors.

See if you can’t find the Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning packets. Here in the US, they’re usually kept where other seasoning and gravy packets are kept. If you can get your hands on those, there’s a ton of recipes out there. I use it to make pot roasts on the regular. Dump 1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning, 1 packet of Italian seasoning, 1 packet of dry beef gravy mix, and a chuck roast in the slow cooker for 8 hours.

Definitely like the HP sauce - can be found in stores in the US. Hidden Valley is probably the market leader for Ranch dressing in the States, but I am reluctant to offer comparisons to other brands because individual tastes vary so widely.

Chicken + Bacon + Ranch
you can’t go wrong with this combination in most recipes. Quesadillas, sandwiches, salads…that trifecta works in a lot of things

I even like it on loaded baked potatoes (can be used in place of sour cream).

Personally I am not a ranch fan but when family comes over, this is the recipe I use. Big fan of Ree Drummond’s cooking.

I will say that homemade ranch dressing is far tastier, in my opinion, however I feel that way about most salad dressings and sauces now. This is the recipe that I make and really like. Really good on a wedge salad with crispy bacon crumbles of course.
If you want to go a simpler yet still very tasty route, this packet makes a really good dressing too. Looks like they have a whole recipe collection here.
