Not All Replies generate a notice

So I have noticed what looks like a glitch in the SW community, not related to todays security changes, I have seen this happening for at least a month. Probably a lot longer

The notices don’t seem to work correctly all the time for threads that I commented in and are following

The alert count is wrong. in this case it should be at least 3, but that isn’t what I am asking a bout

Note the topic “How do you guys inventory chargers”" for this example.
It got a single spice up

but per the notices no replies.

But then when I immediately view the topic I can see that there is a new reply that I wasn’t notified for

its to the point where anytime I see a Spiceup I have to open it and check the thread as frequently there are also replies, but I only get a notice about one of my comments receiving some spice

End result is I (and probably others) are missing a lot of replies. I have gone back to threads days later. Threads that I didn’t receive notice of a reply for, to discover there are several replies that I have missed.

Is the notification bell not being updated correctly on those posts? Just wondering…

At the bottom of the post does it say “Watching”? … You might be only watching the first post, so you don’t get notified for later replies.

its not consistent. It will notify of other comments in the thread, then intermitted stop… then start again

feels like a bug to me.

At the bottom of the post does it say “Watching”?

It says Tracking

which states I will see new replies in the description. I believe that is the default when we reply to a thread

Tracking is that you will see a “count” of new replies, so if you are looking at it in a list, you should see little blue dots or numbers, depending on how you have it set.

And the default is whatever you have it set as.

Just looked yours up:

That third setting is your default. You need to switch it to watching if you want notifications for posts that you reply to.

If you do want to change it, this is under your profile, click Preferences, then this is on the top of the “+ Tracking” tab.

It’s confusing, I know. If you want me to switch it for you, let me know.

I am not sure what you mean by that?

Yeah, what aJason posted, which I think is what you see from a category page. Those counts will also show up in your left hand menu if you have categories and tags customized to show there. (But mine aren’t blue in that case… might be a different setting. So confusing.)

this is so much more complicated than the old system. LOL I just want a notice to topics I comment in so I can follow up. Doesn’t seem like it should require so many settings…

I will try changing the settings you suggested and see what happens
