I have a user who is licenced for Office 365 Business Premium. This was installed on his PC using the click-to-run installer. This all works fine, however it seems as though the click to run version of the installer does not support OLE automation, which we need for one of our applications.

Is there a ‘full version’ MSI available anywhere which will solve this problem?

Alternatively, can I use my Office 2016 Volume Licence media / installer to do the install, then log in to office using the username/password of the premium licenced user?

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

O365 uses C2R. No, you can’t use your VL media for an O365 client as activation will fail.

Are you sure there wasn’t just an option missed during the install? Maybe they need to select ‘advanced’ or something similar to get some extra piece installed.

{"@type":"Person
DragonsRule
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/DragonsRule"}},{"@type":"Answer

Hi Stephen,

I forwarded your post to my team to see if they could provide some insight. It essentially matters on the type of key that was sent in order to activate, as that key might not work with the MSI installer. The alternative would be to install from the direct image file, however it might function as a ‘Click-to-run’ as that you already have installed. This one is a tricky situation, but overall it depends on what exactly you were sent to activate in the first place. Unfortunately, we don’t have an iron clad solution for this scenario, but hope this info is at least somewhat helpful.

{"@type":"Person
jackie-for-trusted-tech
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/jackie-for-trusted-tech"}}]}}
