So whats a sysadmin got to do to get access to a private group? applied for : https://community.spiceworks.com/user-groups/scotch-whiskey-lovers long time ago, came across the group again now and application still outstanding.

Is there a process for dead private groups? or a policy for advising those unworthy why they are not authorised?

Just curious.

You have to go through Gandalf… YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!. Just kidding, post something like this and I’m sure someone will get back to you. You should make it farther than that pesky balrog.

Is the moderator of that group still active within Spiceworks?

Screw it, tagging Sean so when he is not busy he can find out who the moderator is and maybe resolve the issue for you.

It’s up to the group admin to accept the application. CMs might let you in if they are inactive, but I don’t know if that is the case.

First you need to do is send photoshoot picture of you enjoyin a bottle of wiskey in spandex laying on bear carpet near the fireplace … This is the ticket to that group

no one including Sean wants to see what can not be unseen!

It’s been 3+ months since lhatsynot has contributed which could explain things.

I’m a member and it’s been quiet for the past 8 months in that group.

I can assist with being the moderator of the group if necessary. In the meantime, Sean may have to verify if the current owner/moderator is active and go through the proper channels before your request can be approved.

Hey all, thanks for bringing this to my attention! User Groups are a bit different than our normal tech groups so I’m going to go ahead and reach out to lhatsynot and see if he minds having a co-Group Admin or not. And if I don’t hear from him, we’ll just ping the group and see their thoughts on it.

I’m okay having a co-admin for the group.

I’m not as active as I used to be but I’m still around.

I’ve been pretty lucky with the groups I’ve chosen. The longest took about 5 days to go through and that was including a weekend.

I volunteer as a co-admin Sean (Spiceworks) .

NO GROUP OR SOUP FOR YOU!!

I suspect the problem is related to using “scotch” and “whiskey” in the same sentence. Ask a Scotsman how they spell it…

Yeah, that always got me. Normally it’s the Americans that drop letters from the language to make themselves stand apart from the established British English norms. Colour to color, favourite to favorite, jewellery to jewelry, etc. But then you’ve got whisky and the Irish and Americans add an e as in whiskey. Oh well, at least the rest of the world spells it correctly.

Whisky - Wikipedia Whisky - Wikipedia

Heck, even the Wikipedia article Whisky - Wikipedia Whisky - Wikipedia forwards to the “Whisky” article.

A secret society of IT scotch drinkers? I might want in on that!

You must answer these questions three, 'ere the other side he see.

What is your favorite color?

Could be a trick question.

Favorite is spelt “favourite”, color is spelt “colour” and for the third question the answer is a four letter word that also contains the letter “u”. It’s all about u.

Hey all, as you saw above from lhatsynot, we’re good to promote someone. I went ahead and promoted MAINSTRIKE. If the group would like another co-admin, just let me know but this should at least get the group moving forward again.

Thanks, all!
