Hello, we are having some problems with Group Policy. When we open the group policy management console we get an error that says “The system cannot find the file specified” (see attachment). We also get this error when we select GPOs that run scripts. We only get this error stating the file can’t be found when we select GPOs that run scripts. We recently moved both domain controllers out of the default domain controllers OU but when we did we also linked the default domain controllers policy to the new OU. Can moving the domain controllers out of the default domain controllers OU cause this? We have moved the domain controllers back to the default OU and applied the default domain controllers policy to that OU again. When we do a gpupdate /force on any of our Windows 7 workstations we get an error and event ID 1085 in the event logs. Windows 10 workstations seem to be unaffected and the scripts ran by GPOs are working just fine. We are getting another error about the permissions on the SYSVOL folder and I’ve been clicking OK to correct the permissions. How do I get the GPOs that run scripts working again? We have two domain controllers and I’ve been running some repadmin commands to check the replication between them and the replication is fine.

First of all domain controllers are meant to be in Domain Controllers OU only , they should not be moved. After moving them back to their original OU & linking policy, have you rebooted those Domain controllers .

Also open DFSR Management- RUN DFSR diagnostic to check whats the error for SYSVOL, also can you highlight the critical errors from the event viewer .
