So we have a user’s machine who SSD is crashing - Its a NVMe M.2 drive. I need to see if I can save any data but it typically crashes when attempting to do anything once booted up. Usually in these situation of SATA drives, we can just externally slave it with USB adapters to save data but with these new SSD M.2’s I can only fin adapters for M.2 drives with M+B Keys. I can’t find any for the NVMe M key types.

M keyed M.2 drives only work with SATA/AHCI or PCIe, so a USB adapter is out of the question. That is why you can’t find them anywhere. That being said, you could try this:

Have you tried booting into a Linux Live distro and copying data off?

Any of them. I prefer Mint with the Cinnamon desktop because it’s easy to navigate, but any of them will work.

I have this one: Amazon.com Only used a few times but works well.
I usually go for Ubuntu but yeah, mostly personal preference.

Same as the others listed… no USB adapter, but a PCI… worked well to gain access to the drive.

I don’t think there are any external enclosures for NVME (m key) ssd type m.2 drives. I eventually ended up buy the following from amazon.
