Hi,

I’, trying to find information about the remote agent. I have several computers located outside my AD network, so I really need this! However, I’m at a loss - wherever I read, it just speaks of problems when using the agent, nowhere can I find the basics (i. e. hot to obtaing it, configure, install and distribute). Please help!

Hey!

Its actually quite an easy thing to setup:

But basically, goto settings → Remote sites & agents. Fill in the section at the bottom with auth code, scan interval e.t.c. You can then download the agent MSI (from that page) and install onto remote machines.

Provided the machine you install on have a route to you server (either by being on a remote LAN with connection back or if your spiceworks server is published externally somehow) you should start getting results form it.

Personally, I find it most useful for laptops that only occasionally connect to our network (via VPN) as this updates info about them when they do. If your devices are permanently outside your AD, they still need to be able to see your spiceworks server somehow in order for them to be able to send information to it.
