I tried to install RA in some other system in the same network, but cant connect to the server address.

What i have is 3 servers for different use, connected to 20 users. anyway I also have sonic firewall.what should i do, I am new to the admin job.

I tried putting my server address “desktop-mubtdht” in the agent setup, but still no luck. also i installed the spicework in one users not in the servers. should I need to install in the server?.I have no clue

You need to also forward the ports. If the clients are outside your network, you will need to port forward through the sonic firewall. (Careful here as the server will be found by attackers) If the machine hosting the Spiceworks database/program has a software firewall (Norton or maybe the Windows Firewall) you need to make sure the ports are open on it as well.

Think hard about opening ports through the firewall and letting any/all source IP come through.

every thing is inside the network, I just cant connect the server to the agents,(I installed the spiceworks in the client desktops).

If everything is on the same network, why would you install the agents? Right now, they’re primarily so devices outside of the network can report in.

Did you install the entire Spiceworks program on the client desktops?

Take a look at the clients (workstations) on your network. Your software firewall is most like blocking the software.

On the agent, make sure the port number you use matches the SSL port number you used on the server. Then check the server’s software firewall wall (Norton, Windows, etc) is allowing the port.

and… the agents connect to the server. The server does not reach out the agents.

If you have the server scanning the workstations, the server initiates the processes. Going this way you do not need the agents for the scan.

As another has asked: Pls confirm you installed Spiceworks Server on ONLY one computer and Agents on the workstations.

no … just the agent. on the client, but its not get connected. to the main spiceworks

yes, only one pc has the spicewok main, and rest has the agent yet non of them got connected…!!
