Scenario:

  1. I’m in the process of installing the agent on a laptop, but failed in the connection test.

  2. I got a GO!443 when connecting via HTTPS.

5 Spice ups

Can the laptop connect to the Spiceworks web interface on https? Ex: https://yourspiceworks.site.com

If you are getting the 443 go then you should be able to make the test connection. A couple of things to verify.

Can you verify that your port and server name are correct?

The server that you are connecting to should be in the for me ‘hostname’ or ip address ‘x.x.x.x’ (without the single quotes). http://hostname or hostname:port will not work. Also the port number should just be ‘443’

Really? My SW installation uses ports 14080 for http and 14081 for https. Should my SSL port still be 443?

I am getting the same issue, I have the correct ip address as well as port 443, my authorization key is simple and matches that on the central server, but I am still getting this same error.

I am trying to install a remote agent on a virtual machine.

Check ports and verify connections using telnet from the command line. Check your firewall settings. If the ports are open, and connectivity occurs, it will set up the encryption and you’ll be all set.
