I am confused about the remote collector and scanning. I have 5 remote collectors, one at each of my locations. Each remote collector scans the network subnet that they are on. I did this to remove any scanning responsibilities from my Central Server in hopes it would improve performance while using the Help Desk. I had the scanning setup at each of the 5 remote collector and they discovered the devices and sent the information back to the Central Server. I then noticed that the devices were not being rescanned so I took to the forums where I found this article: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/401982-last-scan-time-remote-collector-issues . So I place the scanning ranges back on my Central Server and the Last Scan Times now update. Now I noticed that the Central Server is scanning devices again and some of my devices are reporting as “Central Server”. So my question is; where do I place the scanning ranges? On my central, remote, or both?
4 Spice ups
I have placed my collector scanning ranges on my remote collector.
Seems to work for me.

I placed the scanning ranges on just the remote collectors and the Last Scan Times have stopped updating on my devices.
Remote.
