We had a pc here that was formated and reinstalled with windows by accident. Does anyone know of a way that we could restore the pc back to it’s previous state? I’m aware of data recovery software that allows you to recover files but do you know if there is something would allow to recover the pc and boot back into it?

You could try this but not sure how effective it will be :-

That’s the killer. You’ve overwritten the existing Windows files so you’re SOL.

Unless you have a backup, you aren’t going to be able to get this back to how it used to be.

Any data that’s on the parts of the drive that haven’t been overwritten can be recovered, but I don’t see how that will help with what you are trying to do.

Unfortunately, there is no way to get the OS to work the way it used to. You will need to pull what you can/need by using a recovery application. Then you will need to build up the OS the way it was. Did you look for all possible instances of backups? If you don’t have any, then this is the only path you have.

This isn’t a great scenario for a data recovery, but if recovery apps fail you and you need a professional eye on the drive, call DriveSavers 24/7 at 800-440-1904 and refer to DS98006 for a SpiceWorks discount.

OK, Thanks!

Formatting and reinstalling the windows in system indicates that you may create one or more new file system.
You could not restore the PC back to it’s previous state? Recover your data from the back up (If you have created any). Else, contact to data recovery service provider for any assistance regarding data recovery.
