I am currently looking to move approx 26 vm’s to a hosted cloud provider. The two final candidates are Rackspace with dedicated servers and storage and Hosting.com private cloud solution. ie both are quotes are for non shared cloud space. Price is within $500.00 between the two. Who would you recommend? - Thanks Dave

3 Spice ups

I have used Rackspace, and am pretty pleased with their service and more importantly, their support.

Thank you - Veet8676 for your reply, that’s been my experience with them as well. I wonder how hosting.com compares to RackSpace in the support space. I also have concerns for their bandwidth garrantee of 4k with burst to 100k. Im wondering bout potential future charges.

Thanks - Dave

I know this is late to the game and someone else may have had a better experience with hosting.com, but we’ve had quite a few problems in the past with them. Their support isn’t the most knowledgable and there seems to be a disconnect / break down in communication between their staff groups when it comes to implementing new services.

I can’t recommend them with the amount of problems we’ve had in the past with them, although we were getting dedicated servers hosted through them rather than using their cloud solution. Rackspace is much better support wise, you usually pay more with them, but their support is way better than hosting’s.
