After dating for 1 year and 1 day and being engaged for only 69 days, I got married last week on 7/5/2014.

So far the biggest change in my daily life (besides moving to a new apartment with 60x my previous commute [30 seconds increased to 30 minutes]) has been this weird circle of metal that is always on my finger…

It’s like an itch I just can’t scratch. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone else have an issue getting used to ring(s)?

It’ll take a bit to get used to it, but once you do when you remove the ring its like you are missing a part of you.

I did for a week. Now after having it on for over three years, I panic if I don’t have it on.

None whatsoever…

Congratulations first!,

I don’t wear my wedding ring on a daily basis (I am happily married fyi) because I could never quite get used to it.

I also found it to be a real pain when trying to pug computers and hardware around, it always seemed to dig into the base of my finger, causing a small fibrome to develop on the tendon.

Consequently, I wear it to family events and special occasions only.

I felt the same way. I never wore any kind of jewelry before I got married, and it took about 3 months before it felt “normal”. Now I feel weird if I take it off, and I have a hilarious wedding ring tanline from it.

Congrats on your marriage! When I first got my wedding ring, I started acting like Thomas Covenant, the eponymous hero of the Chronicles saga (since my ring is white gold). My wife didn’t get it, so I moved on to quoting from LOTR about the One Ring; basically stating I would use it to wield power over my wife. A laugh and a derisory look soon put paid to that…heh

I’ve worn a ring on my right hand since I was 18, so adding a wedding band on my left wasn’t exactly strange. Just give it time, and you’ll get used to it eventually.

Rings are kind of weird to wear.

I used to do a lot of machining and you don’t wear rings doing that and that’s what I got used to so I don’t wear a ring (maybe special occasions…) my wife doesn’t wear them either. As a matter of fact, our wedding rings were a last second, what’s the cheapest decision because we knew they were going right into a drawer after the ceremony.

Good luck not losing it.

Giddity!

Thomas Covenant! Must turn my kids on to those books !

When my wife “installed” my ring on out wedding day, my finger swelled up, and I have never been able to take it off…

I’ve already told my future wife that I will not wear a ring, she has instead agreed to buy me an Omega watch. I think we’ve sorted any issue out there

A friend of mine has a One Ring replica (you know, as opposed to the real thing) for his wedding ring. They’ll celebrate their 11th anniversary next month.

I wear my rings every day, but take them off at night because they slide around on my finger and snag my pillowcase. I could get them re-resized, but I’m too lazy.

Congratulations on your marriage, OP! It’s good times.

been married nearly 16 years and theres times it is still annoying but then if i take it off my hand feels strange so go figure lol

It took me a while to get used to mine - probably 6 months or so…

How about not getting married and go for freedom? No monkey watching your back

I have been married 5 years next month, and I thought the exact same thing. Now when I take it off it feels really weird.

I felt the same way after I got married also. I have been married for only 3 years. It helps that I have a titanium ring and its really light. So after I got used to it I don’t even notice that I have one anymore. Now like others I notice that when I take it off it feels weird.

First off congrats!

Second off, i have been married for over 2 years now and i still fidget with mine all the time. It took me a long time just to not mess with it constantly.

As an aside, some people say things don’t work out when “Rushed” into. I was told that for quite some time after meeting my “soul mate”, dating for a short time, (6 Months), then getting engaged, and married 1 year and 6 days after the first date, 30 years ago…
Do not listen to any Nay Sayers, and Congratulations!
The ring has not been off my finger, other than a few surgeries that I have had…
