In the recent months, Spiceworks was upgraded to use 1.9.
See http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/114690-spiceworks-5-0-release-notes
To verify you can run: C:\Program Files (x86)\Spiceworks\bin>ruby.exe -v to check the version of ruby.
Couldn’t tell you why Secunia is telling you otherwise. Old registry entries?
Andreas, thanks for your concern over the security of Spiceworks and the vulnerabilities associated with older versions of ruby. We work hard to keep Spiceworks updated.
The current version of Spiceworks is running on 1.9.2p180, you can confirm this by running this command:
- C:\Program Files\Spiceworks\bin>ruby.exe -v

Why’s SW coverting the 4th slash to a greater than sign?
- C:\Program Files\Spiceworks\bin\ruby.exe -v
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Spiceworks\bin\ruby.exe -v
Added these for copy and paste purposes
Elgin, thanks for the added commands.
The \ wasn’t converted, I just copied directly from a command-prompt.

Ok, this makes more sense now. I thought because there were 2 different posts, that it converted the slash.
Maybe PSI Secunia needs to be patched or updated.
