So, I found this little gem today:
http://www.indeed.com/cmp/Syncoms/jobs/IT-Network-Administrator-3b60c42784c4d576?q=systems+administrator
All I can think is that this is probably a solo gig suffering your way through the trenches. What have you wonderful people seen as posted responsibilities to pay ratio, and what would you do if you were offered this type of position (Aside from laugh and walk)

Responsibilities doesn’t look bad.
It’s the education and experience requirement to pay ratio I am concerned about.

Sorry, waiting on coffee to cool to acceptable drinking level so I can get through the haze sleeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Agreed. $30K a year seems trivial for a job requiring that level of knowledge.
But, it’s Florida. Nice weather, Palm trees, no snow…

Everything looks bad - including the responsibilities. There is no reason somebody should accept this position and in doing so they could be devaluing the position moving forward. If rival companies saw this they could potentially adjust their pay rates and then it will have a trickling effect.
30k is low even for 90% of Help Desk positions. It’s a joke for Network or Systems administration.

30K is literally almost half (a little more than half) of what I made when starting at my first job out of college. For me to touch this position, I’d need a longer pole than you’d need even for Mr. Grinch (39.5’).

That’s a complete joke. Somebody would have to be desperate for a job. I could see someone take it as a stop gap and then they would move on as soon as they got something else.
The company is never going to be able to hold onto an employee at that salary.

The sad part is that this is standard for most helpdesk roles here in the state. My last gig was help desk Tier 2 for a little more than $26k.
That’s kind of the the thing, while that looks really low to a lot of us, it may not be that bad for the area.
But 30k for the qualifications they want, that seems to be on the low side.

$30k for that part of Florida is not good, hope you still live with your parents!
The requirements for the pay are insane too.

Florida is the worst! Getting my BS here (to avoid out of state tuition). Looking at VA, ATL, Texas. Maybe somewhere remote in Canada or maybe Antarctica!!!. The jobs here want you know everything and barely pay for you to afford rent / mortage. I know a lot of people with 2nd jobs or doing side gigs

A Bachelor’s, Master’s preferred gig for $30k is ridiculous.
That PLUS 5 years of management experience, not just work experience, they want someone who has been in MANAGEMENT for 5 years, to take a gig for $30k?
Absurd.
I would apply and interview just to have to opportunity to tell them how crazy they look.

I just applied…When they see my resume I’m sure they’ll be impressed and offer me $30,999

30k for “Masters Degree Preferred” and management experience? Hell to the no! That is less than the help desk job I was at 17 years ago.
Has to be missing a 1 in front of the 3.

I’m tempted to call them to tell them they’re crazy. If you had 5+ years an IT manager, and you are even entertaining a $30k year job then you must not have any self-confidence.
