Hi

We are running Windows Server 2012 R2 as which need to access remotely by the users. as they use one common login user id to login. but what we are facing is when user machines are in idle user drop are dropping off session and not sure which sessions user were in. Is there any way to fix this when user comes back from the idle remote connection will remains.

Have everyone use a unique user ID.

{"@type":"Person
kevinhsieh
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/kevinhsieh"}},{"@type":"Answer

The first response would be to ask why are users accessing a server directly via RDP ? Most practices would only administrators to RDP into servers.

Then RDP sessions are supposed to be disconnected if idle and then logged off if disconnected for short periods of time.

Each different user is supposed to login using their own ID for RDP sessions

{"@type":"Person
adrian_ych
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/adrian_ych"}},{"@type":"Answer

Srini, you originally indicated that everyone used the same login ID. I suggest that everyone use a different ID.

{"@type":"Person
kevinhsieh
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/kevinhsieh"}},{"@type":"Answer

You should never share login credentials.

{"@type":"Person
adrian_ych
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/adrian_ych"}},{"@type":"Answer

Your users should/must have Separate User Accounts/ID’s. Then make sure that only Admins access RDP sessions.

From there you can isolate bad sessions by each user.

{"@type":"Person
billchz
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/billchz"}},{"@type":"Answer

Your problem lies in the fact you are using the same ID to RDP onto a server. You are only allowed a couple of RDP session onto a server. If if you have many more then you should be looking to install and license Remote Desktop Services.

{"@type":"Person
scottbrindley
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/scottbrindley"}},{"@type":"Answer

My assumption is that OP is already using a proper RD session host and is licensed to do so. The issue is allowing multiple concurrent logins for the same ID, getting disconnected, and then knowing which disconnected session to reattach to.

I limit all users to a single session on my hosts, so this is a complete non-issue for me. I had to remember way back to a time where I had to select which session to reconnect to.

{"@type":"Person
kevinhsieh
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/kevinhsieh"}},{"@type":"Answer
