I have a HP P2000 SAN which i can SSH to with no issues. I have set the SSH account details into Spiceworks, but the SSH account keeps failing with “Connection Timeout” when i scan.

I am 100% sure the SSH account is correct, but i still can’t scan either of the SAN IPs

3 Spice ups

can you ssh in from the SPW server using something like putty, and does all this happen quite quickly with not delays?

Martin: I’ve just tried this with Putty & it connected fine. No real delay at all.

no ‘real’ delay, you mean the prompts came up straight away with at most 1 sec delay?

Normally delays are caused by the device your connecting to not be able to reverse DNS the ip-address your coming in from.

have a look at the scan logs to see if theres anything in there that points to issues

might be worthwhile emailing support@spiceworks.com, they can walk you through increasing the log level and then analyse the logs in more detail.

I presume you’re on the latest release? 6.2.00905

correct: approx 1 sec delay before prompt. Logon was quick.

and the device uses SSHv2 ?

prob best to contact support at this point

I set Putty to only connect using only SSHv2 & it all connected with no issues. When i repeated the same but set SSHv1 only, the error was:

SSH protocol version 1 required by user but not provided by server.

So, SSH v2 only.
