Can anyone tell me where I’m going wrong? Having completed a scan and logged all devices, when the next scan is done, if a device has changed it’s IP address, spiceworks does not seem to find the new IP and reports the devcice offline, even though it’s online. Is there a solution to this?

Hi Keith - I’ve seen SW sometimes get a bit confused when an IP address changes. The way I found round it (not ideal, but open to suggestion) is to remove the device and allow the re-scan to detect the correct settings. I’m not 100% certain, but SW might be miss-categorising because the devices MAC address and Serial numbers are the same, so that’s where the confusion is caused.

Thanks for the reply. I did think of removing the device to “get around it”, I just could face having to do it to a couple of hundred entries.

Has your DNS updated with the correct information before SpiceWorks does its scan?

Yes made sure that was correct.
