I have VIPRE Business Premium, and I use endpoint security as my VIPRE Business Agent.

The VIPRE policies are all set to integrate with Windows Security Center, and a GPO turns off Windows defender for all PCs with VIPRE.

On my Windows 10 workstations, they all report VIPRE Business Agent as the AntiVirus software, within Windows Security Center. But my Server 2016 (1607 build 14393.5246) and Server 2019 (21H2 build 20348.825) domain controllers only report the status of Windows Defender, Disabled -instead of showing VIPRE Business Agent.

Does anybody know how to get Windows to recognize the installed VIPRE AV?

I’m open to any GUI or powershell/cmd suggestions.

For the workstations that had this issue, I simply “Installed existing agent” from within VIPRE, and that updated the status within Windows Security Center. The same action did not work on the servers.

I have also tried removing and reinstalling Windows defender on one of the servers, and that didn’t make a difference.

Go into Services and check to see if the Vipre services are running…

VIPRE services are indeed running. All agent info in the VIPRE console is up-to-date, and communication is good. Defs and agent version are up-to-date.

@philbarrios

Thanks for the conversation and question about VIPRE. I’ve contacted my technical professional at VIPRE and this is the resulting answer:

If the Actions-related Policy option for integrating with Windows Security Center is already enabled, then endpoints that are running Server 2016/2019/2022 should also display that they’re protected by a VIPRE Business Agent within the Security Center.

This should always be the case, as long as Windows Defender really is disabled on the affected Servers.

However, please ensure that a v12.3.8159 Agent is running on the affected endpoints, as there were known integration issues with the previous Agent builds.

If v12.3.8159 is installed, then try briefly stop the Windows Management Instrumentation Service before starting it up again.

Also, open Event Viewer on an affected server; are there any Application Errors or System Errors that mention an inability to enable "SECURITY_PRODUCT_STATE_ON" for the VIPRE Business Agent?

If for some reason this does not solve the issue, you can PM me your contact information and I’ll see if we can start a case.

You rock!

I will check this out tonight, and see if I have any luck with your info.

-Will provide an update afterwards.

Thank you!
